Vision Zero Task Force

The City Council passed legislation on March 22, 2023, that will create the Vision Zero Task Force to adopt a goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries in the City by 2040.

The Vision Zero Task Force endorses the Vision Zero Action Plan, a comprehensive and collaborative approach to achieving this bold goal.

Traffic crashes are among the leading causes of death and injury in the United States. In Maryland, 500 crash-related fatalities of nearly 34,000 in the country are reported each year.

The Vision Zero Task Force consists of the City Manager, the Chief of Police, the Director of Public Works, the Director of Code Compliance, the City's Grant Writer, two members of the Mayor and City Council, representatives from the City's Tree Commission and Green Team, and two volunteers appointed by the Council.
