Construction Notice: Sidewalk Construction Project on Rhode Island Avenue and 33rd Street to Begin August 8th

The City of Mount Rainier Department of Public Works is going to start a sidewalk improvement construction project at Rhode Island Avenue between 3307 Rhode Island Avenue and Eastern Avenue, and 33rd Street between Bunker Hill Road and Perry Street; weather permitting.

These improvements is a part of the FY23 budget allocated towards Street and Sidewalk Improvements approved by the Mayor and Council. Construction for the project is anticipated to begin 08/08/2022. Please see the following schedule:

  • Rhode Island Avenue Phase One starting 08/08/22 – 08/12/22

From 3311 Rhode Island Ave. – 3327 Rhode Island Ave.

  • Rhode Island Avenue Phase Two starting 08/15/22 – 08/19/22 
     From 3237 Rhode Island Ave. – Eastern Ave.
  • 33rd Street between Bunker Hill Road and Perry Street starting 09/06/22 – 09/12/22 

The City of Mount Rainier has contracted Grace Management & Construction to complete concrete sidewalk repairs and installation of flexi-pave around city right-of-way trees, curb and gutter repairs, and ADA curb ramps.  The contractor will oversee sidewalk closures and traffic control as necessary. There will be limited parking on the streets during construction and no parking signs will be posted 72 hrs. in advance. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.
