On June 8, 2021, Jimmy Tarlau was sworn in as Ward 1 Councilmember for the City of Mount Rainier. Nominated by Ward I Councilmember Luke Chesek, Tarlau was voted in to fill the vacant Council seat at the June 1 Legislative Meeting.
Tarlau will serve for the two years remaining in the Council seat vacated when former Ward I Councilmember Celina Benitez was elected Mayor. As a former Mount Rainier City Councilmember and State Delegate, Tarlau brings years of experience in local politics to the Council.
