Mount Rainier 2023-2024 Youth Scholars Recognized During Award Ceremony

The City of Mount Rainier honored and recognized the 2023-2024 Mount Rainier Youth Scholarship Program awardees during the award ceremony held on June 7 at the Mount Rainier Police Department Community Room.  

 Mayor Celina Benitez, author of the program, presented the award to the following outstanding students:

 • Anthony Romero-Gonzalez

• Montanna Norman

• Amirah Ragin

• Osman Milla

• Mario Callner-DeRosa

• Maximo Valle

• Sonia Villatoro Ramos

• Amaris Redrick

• Monica Chicas

• Ricka Enwere

• Kaitlyn Novoa 

The Mount Rainier Youth Scholarship Program awards 7 deserving students entering or enrolled in a post-secondary, technical, or vocational institution for higher learning in the United States. Awardees each receive $3000 to support students with their educational expenses. This year, the City awarded four more scholars who received $1000 each. 

“We recognize the hard work and dedication of our scholars to excel academically and for their leadership, and service to our community. Education is important to empowering our youth in pursuing their dreams and we wanted to make sure they have these resources available to support and better equip them in their education journey,” Mayor Benitez said. 

Mayor Benitez also thanked the Youth Scholarship Committee which oversees the application and selection process of youth scholars. 

Application for the 2024-2025 Youth Scholarship Program will open in January 2024.
