Proposed FY 2027 Budget; Public Meeting Scheduled for March 21

FY 2027 Public Budget Hearing

City Manager Kourosh Kamali presented the Proposed FY 2027 Budget during the February 17 Work Session of the Mayor and Council. A Budget Public Meeting will be held on March 21, 2026, providing residents with an opportunity to review the proposal and offer public comment.

Business License Renewal

www.mountrainiermd.org/permitting

City of Mount Rainier businesses, charitable and religious organizations, are required to renew their license and permit to operate no later than February 28. Failure to renew by the deadline may result in fines and penalties.

Special Residential Parking Permits must also be renewed by February 28.

Renewals may be completed conveniently online at www.mountrainiermd.org/permitting.

Property Tax Credit for Seniors and Military Retirees

Property Tax Credit

The City offers a property tax credit to eligible homeowners through the Property Tax Credit for Seniors and Military Retirees Program.

To qualify, a homeowner must:

  • Have lived in the same dwelling for at least thirty (30) years
  • Own a property with a maximum assessed value of $700,000

The program provides a 20% credit on City property taxes for owner-occupied dwellings only. The credit is granted for five (5) consecutive years and is not available after that five-year period.

The deadline for applications for the current fiscal year is April 1.
