Mount Rainier Porch Fest, September 27, 2025, 4 pm to 5 pm

Experience Mount Rainier’s talent come alive! On Saturday, September 27, porches across the city will transform into stages showcasing incredible local musicians and artists. 

To make the most of the evening, the Mount Rainier Recreation Committee has created a digital map to help attendees plan their stops and catch every performance.

The City of Mount Rainier Police Department invites you to Public Safety Night on Saturday, October 4, at 5 pm. 

Come meet our new Chief of Police, Katherine Perez, and Assistant Chief of Police, Andre William, along with the dedicated officers who serve our community. Meet firefighters, EMTs, and partner agencies who work together to keep our community safe.

The evening will also feature police vehicle display tours, K-9 unit demonstrations, and interactive safety activities for all ages.

Join the City of Mount Rainier and Joe’s Movement Emporium for UNIDOS: Celebrating Latino Heritage, Uplifting Voices, and Strengthening Communities—a vibrant Latino Heritage Month celebration honoring the rich traditions, cultural contributions, and diverse voices of the Latino community. This free, family-friendly event will feature live music and dance performances, engaging cultural experiences, and access to valuable community resources. All are welcome to gather in unity for an afternoon of celebration, connection, and joy. The event will take place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM outside Joe’s Movement Emporium in Mount Rainier, MD.

The City of Mount Rainier’s Department of Economic Development is thrilled to announce a brand-new Mural Arts Project as part of our continued effort to revitalize and energize our downtown! Funded through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development’s (DHCD) Main Street Improvement Program, the City is seeking proposals to transform the wall at 4000 34th Street with a theme celebrating legendary icon Muhammad Ali! The selected artist/muralist will receive $10,000 to bring their vision to life.

Apply Now for the Recreation Activities Grant

Recreation Activities Grant Application

The City of Mount Rainier Recreation Committee is now accepting applications for the Recreation Activities Grant, offering up to $2,500 in reimbursable funds to organizations and community members who wish to host programs, activities, or events that engage Mount Rainier residents. From sports and arts to environmental activities, this grant supports initiatives that enhance community life and bring people together. Programs must be open to residents within the city’s boundaries and promote greater community engagement.

City hosts Electronics Recycling Event on Saturday, September 20! Mount Rainier residents are encouraged to bring unwanted electronics such as computers, phones, printers, cables, and other small devices for safe and responsible disposal at the Public Works Department,  3715 Wells Avenue, Mount Rainier, MD, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
