PROPERTY TAX CREDIT

FOR ELDERLY AND MILITARY RETIREES

The City of Mount Rainier offers a Property Tax Credit for eligible senior homeowners and veterans.

Eligibility Requirements:

• Homeowners must have resided in the same dwelling for at least 30 years.
• The dwelling must have a maximum assessed value of $700,000.
• The credit is available only for owner-occupied dwellings.
• A 20% credit on City property taxes is granted for 5 consecutive years.
• The credit is not available after the 5-year period.

FY 2026 BUDGET PROCESS

The City encourages Mount Rainier residents to participate in the budget process by attending public hearings. The public’s participation is integral to shaping sound financial decisions that impact Mount Rainier.

Key Dates to Remember

• February 18, 2025: The City Manager will present the proposed budget to the Mayor and Council during a work session. This initial presentation is a vital step in setting financial priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.
• March 22, 2025: A public hearing on the proposed budget will provide residents with an opportunity to provide feedback and insights.
