The Mount Rainier Police Department recently received a report that occupants of a gold Volvo Wagon, possibly an XC40, with Virginia plates stopped a child walking at approximately 5:30 pm near 29th and Shepherd Streets and told them they could take the child where they were going. The child said no and the people in the car apparently offered a dollar to the child. The child refused and because there was another car observing the interaction, they drove away. It has been reported that the car went north toward Queens Chapel Road. 

STRANGER SAFETY TIPS FOR CHILDREN:

• Teach your children to be cautious of strangers. Don't approach a motor vehicle for any reason.
• If a stranger does approach your child tell them to remember the license plate number of the motor vehicle and to report this information to you immediately.
• Don't assume it was nothing and discount what your child has to tell you.
