The City of Mount Rainier is excited to pilot a bathroom infrastructure with a first-of-its-kind cloud-connected bathroom network. On August 5th, Throne, a start-up company based in Brentwood placed its high-tech solar-powered bathroom in Mount Rainier, across City Hall at Perry Street Park and Ride lot for a test run.
The innovative portable public restroom will allow bus drivers, commuters, residents, and community members to have access to a clean restroom.
Every Throne Bathroom has a flushing toilet, running water, and robust ventilation and may only be accessed using a smartphone to encourage user accountability. The company maintains and monitors every Throne bathroom in the Metro DC area.
The proposal was presented by Throne Chief Operating Officer Jessica Heinzelman to Mayor and Council during the June 7, 2022, Legislative Meeting. View the recorded meeting on our Youtube Channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/MRTVMaryland.
