The City of Mount Rainier awarded 7 students $3000 in grant funding as part of the Youth Scholarship Program that benefits graduating seniors and college students residing in the City.

Cynthia Muñoz, Anthony Romero-Gonzalez, Amirah Ragin, Montanna Norman, Osman Milla, Nery Tobar, and Shirleah Ragin are this year’s recipients of the scholarship program.

This year, the funding increased from $1000 to $3000 after Mayor Celina Benitez and Councilmembers Luke Chesek, Jarrett Stoltsfuz and Jimmy Tarlau approved the additional funding utilizing funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA).  The money awarded may be used to pay any expenses incurred in education including tuition fees, books, school supplies, housing, and transportation.

The Youth Scholarship Committee oversaw the application process for the annual program to ensure the timely and fair distribution of the funds to deserving students.

The application process and requirements for next year’s Youth Scholarship Program will be released in December.
