Calling all community volunteers!
The Mayor and Council are looking for residents to help lead a community effort to build out a landscape design and maintenance plan for Rogers Park. The park borders Eastern Avenue between Shephard and Bunker Hill Roads and was cleared of invasive vines several years ago by goats. Most recently, the Tree Commission led a tree planting push in the park. The city is hoping to build on that momentum by repeating the community-led process that the city used to redevelop the 31st Street pocket park (now food forest). Like that project, Councilmember Luke Chesek will take the lead for the city in this community-led process.
If you are passionate about creating beautiful outdoor spaces and want to make a lasting impact on our community's environment, join us as we transform Rogers Park into a stunning oasis for everyone to enjoy!
As a volunteer, you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with like-minded individuals, and your neighbors to brainstorm innovative ideas, create sustainable landscape designs, and develop a comprehensive maintenance plan to ensure the beauty lasts for years to come. You may also volunteer to lend a helping hand in maintaining the park.
