City Election 2023

City of Mount Rainier residents will be heading to the polls this year! The City of Mount Rainier holds municipal elections in odd-numbered years on the first Monday in May, as required by the City Charter. This year’s election will be on Monday, May 1, 2023.

To vote in the 2023 Elections, City of Mount Rainier election, every person must meet ALL the following requirements:

  1. Is at least sixteen (16) years of age;
  2. Is registered to vote in accordance with the provisions of the City Charter and applicable Charter Amendments; and
  3. Has resided in the corporate limits of the City for at least thirty (30) days immediately preceding the next City election.

An individual is NOT eligible to be a registered voter of the City if the individual:

  1. Has been convicted of a felony and is serving a court-ordered sentence of imprisonment for the conviction on Election Day;
  2. Is under guardianship for mental disability and a court of competent jurisdiction has specifically found by clear and convincing evidence that the individual cannot communicate, with or without accommodations, a desire to participate in the voting process; or
  3. Has been convicted of buying or selling votes.

Be sure to register to vote! 

 There are two seats up in the upcoming election:

  • Councilmember Ward I, 4-year term
  • Councilmember Ward II, 4-year term
