Join us TODAY for the City's Pride Parade & Pulse Remembrance Day Program!
The Pride Parade will begin at Thomas Stone Elementary at 10:15am, go up 34th to the traffic circle and finish in next to City Hall.
Following the parade at 11:15am, there will be a program with music and speakers addressing the challenges the LGBTQ+ community has faced, still faces, and what still lies ahead here in our local community and the county as a whole. The program at City Hall will conclude around 12:45 pm.
From the City's Recreation Committee:
If you would like to come out and march with us in the parade, PLEASE feel free to! We will be lining up starting at 9:30am at Thomas Stone Elementary.
If you would just rather come out and watch from the sidewalk, we would LOVE that too! We even have some goodies to hand out to those watching and cheering us on!
Though we are in pseudo "post" pandemic times, we are still encouraging masks for those not immunized and social distancing which is why we will have that section of Perry Street blocked off to accommodate any crowds.
We are also celebrating Pride month by hanging a banner in the traffic circle with a boarder with many (not all) of the flags of the LGBTQ+ community. A flyer explaining which communities each flag represents will be available at City Hall and at the event on the 12th.
We truly hope to see many of you join in to show your support and love for our LGBTQ+ community!
